3 Simple Steps to Overcome Depression and Anxiety

J

Many of us struggle with feelings of anxiety and depression at different points in our lives. I have. And during this time of turmoil on a worldwide basis, it is easy to fall into that cycle. But there are a few simple things that you can do to alleviate these negative feelings.

  1. Keep a Gratitude journal. The simple act of writing down new things every day that you are grateful for, causes you to search for things to be grateful for. And this helps rewire how we are thinking about things. Bob Proctor suggests that you find 10 new things every day that you write in your gratitude journal. Many others suggest that you write down at least 3. Even 1 per day will make a difference and help you get started. https://youtu.be/IrF6m0hCvQE
  2. Write your Life Story. Take the time to reflect on your life experiences. Write them down, along with how you felt and the choices you made and why you made them. This is incredibly therapeutic. And if you share these stories with your family, studies show that they will become more resilient as well. http://calltostory.com
  3. Garden. Simply by taking time daily to be in nature, and getting your hands in the dirt, you will be more at peace. This is healing as well. Mentally, emotionally, and physically. John Calhoun healed himself through gardening and now has one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve seen. https://youtu.be/fi60ia2Hsk4

Practice these three things daily, and you will be surprised how quickly you start to feel more peace and happiness in your life.
